Following the success of previous meetings, SAM (Snow Algae Meeting) has now evolved into SAGIAM, bringing together researchers from around the world working on snow and glacier ice algae.

In the same spirit, no registration fees are charged, and the AlpAlga consortium is delighted to welcoming this prestigious workshop at Université Grenoble Alpes!

Session topics will follow the format of previous editions, fostering discussion, exchange, and collaboration.
Colleagues investigating snow and ice algae in all their forms and from any discipline are warmly invited to present
and share their research in an informal, workshop-like setting over two full days.

The program includes oral presentations (15 min + 5 min questions) and poster sessions covering all aspects of
snow and ice microalgae.

It is also a unique opportunity for younger scientists to present their work in a stimulating environment.

The scientific committee includes: Alberto Amato (LPCV Grenoble), Helen Feord (GFZ Potsdam, Germany), Trinity
Hamilton (University of Minnesota, USA), Robin Kodner (Western Washington University, USA) and Eric Maréchal
(LPCV Grenoble).

 

Coming to the congress venue

 

Coming by tram

The « Gabriel Fauré » tram stop is around 50 metres from the MaCI.

The site is served by two tramway lines:

Tram B: Grenoble Oxford/Gières Plaine des sports line.
Tram C: Seyssins Le Prisme / Saint-Martin-d’Hères Condillac Universités line.

  • From Grenoble SNCF railway station or bus station: take Tram B, in the direction of Gières Plaine des Sports. Get off the tram at the Gabriel Fauré stop.
  • From Grenoble Université Gières SNCF railway station (for people arriving by train from Geneva, Annecy and Chambéry): take Tram B, in the direction of Grenoble Oxford. Get off the Tram at the Gabriel Fauré stop.

 

Coming by car

  • Coming from Lyon or Valence, follow the signs for Chambéry/Rocade Sud, and take exit 2 « Gabriel Péri » (Ikea).
  • Coming from Chambéry, follow the signs for Gières Domaine Universitaire, then take exit 1 « Domaine Universitaire/Gières Mayencin ».
  • Coming from Grenoble centre, take Avenue Gabriel Péri from St Martin d’Hères, then the entrance to the campus opposite the Géant Casino supermarket.
